Neil Lennon has been speaking about the potential disaster it would’ve been for Celtic last season when Scott Brown was being courted by a new Australian side who were desperate to land the Celtic captain.

Brown was given the time and space by Brendan Rodgers at the time to think over his options. Effectively, the player would have been making a call to wind down his career and play at a less intense level.

There was so much talk of the captain missing a step and not being good enough anymore but he continues to prove people wrong. As we know, the Celtic captain signed on with the club again and he led the club to eight and on our way to nine.

Neil Lennon admits he was on the outside looking in when he heard of the potential move happening and thought at the time it would’ve been a disaster for Rodgers and Celtic.

“I wasn’t here at the time but, when I heard the talk about him possibly going to Australia, I thought it would have been a disaster.” Neil Lennon told SunSport.

“He is looking well and he has had a great season so far. Scott sets the tempo at this club for all the players.

“In training, he still has that great desire to work hard and all the boys take their lead from him as captain.

“You can’t give him that, or coach that into someone, it is built in him.

“He wants to keep pushing himself and also the team on to bigger and better things in the future.”

  1. We can’t not let our self be held to Scot Brown next year as our play is getting far to slow, and there’s far more and faster players coming into the game, our play let’s defensive teams smoke cigars, when we fuck about side and back passing with very little attacking. we waste at least 40 minutes every game 10 minutes with shys and free kicks , and a further 10 with fouls corners and sub’s so we play for 30 minutes but could improve it to 70 minutes
