NEIL LENNON has come in for scathing criticism for his own support as of late. The manager looks bereft of ideas to get his players to work together and win games.

Celtic have only won 2 games in the last 8, that’s incredible for a Celtic team.

However, the noises overnight are the board will stick with their manager and Neil has no intention of walking away even though the heat is on.

One man who did stay too long in his job has given Neil a vote of confidence and we’re not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, to be honest.

Craig Levein told the BBC, Neil has been in this situation before and come out the other side and it’s all about Celtic holding their nerve and even strengthening in January.

“He’s been in situations like this before and he’ll come out the other side,” said ex-Hearts boss Levein.

“Neil Lennon knows more about being an Old Firm manager than just about anybody. He’s had two fairly lengthy spells at it. I don’t think there’ll be any panic from Neil. He’s seen it all before.”

“He’s frustrated because he expects better from that group of players,” added Levein on BBC Radio Scotland’s Sportsound. “That’s why he’s saying what he’s saying.

“He’s not having a go at his players just for having a go at his players – it’s to try and get some sort of reaction. I just hear a frustrated manager.

“We’ve still to see what happens after the turn of the year, whether Rangers can continue their form. I think that’s a really important part of this.

“There’s a transfer window to come in January and I think if Celtic need more players in, they’ll bring more players in.”

Celtic might need to delve into the market but they have to make sure they don’t fall any further behind. With the Scottish Cup final being played in December, their city rivals can go 14 points in front at a minimum if they keep winning, before the next Glasgow Derby.

Celtic would then have three vital games in hand to bring the deficit to five.

It’s retrievable but it’s also in danger of getting away from Celtic before the end of December, right now, any more dropped points in the league would spell disaster.
