NEIL LENNON was on live radio discussing English football this week.

The Irishman was asked about former Celtic flop Teemu Pukki who turned out to be a revelation at Norwich in his debut season and has been a steady scorer since then for the Canaries.

The former Celtic boss believes the switch to Celtic was too soon for Teemu and he wasn’t equipped to deal with the pressure at Parkhead.

“Teemu Pukki, who is scoring goals at Norwich whether be in the Championship or the Premier League, I signed Teemu eight or nine years ago, he scored maybe 10, 12 goals but it was just maybe too soon for him in that environment, and it didn’t work out the way we wanted it to.” Neil Lennon told Radio 5 Live.

Pukki was part of the side when it was Kris Commons who rose above the fray to become Celtic’s top goalscorer that season.

Guys like Pukki and Amido Balde never got a true run of games but did look off the pace most of the time.

It’s crazy to think that was so long ago yet we’re still repeating the same mistakes over and over again. There’s no room for error in the recruitment this summer, we can’t go for projects or guys who might come good, we need to tip the scale in favour of players who are more than likely to hit the ground running.
