Neil Lennon has delivered another injury blow by revealing Hatem Elhamed will be our for at least another few weeks with a hairline fracture.
Speaking after Celtic’s impressive 4-1 victory against AIK, the Celtic manager gave an update on all his players. Ajer pulled up during the game with a groin strain which is more than likely going to see him miss Sunday’s trip to Ibrox.
Odsonne Edouard came off limping against the Swedes but the frontman was only struggling with a bout of cramp.
However, we were unsure about the long term status of Elhamed having missed the last three games through injury. The Celtic manager cleared that up when he spoke to CelticTV.
“We’ve got Moritz Bauer in there and he may come into contention with Kristoffer Ajer struggling.
“Hatem, we’ll have to assess him, but he’s been very sore with a slight hairline fracture.
“I think it’s just a slight fracture in a bone at the side.
“Now, you can play with it but there’s a lot of discomfort and he’s just going through that at the minute.
“We have to assess him but sometimes it can take a couple of weeks to recover from something like that.”
Celtic travel to Ibrox on Sunday hoping to record their first win in three trips to the ground. The bhoys will need to be at their best if they want a win and not having Hatem and Ajer are two big blows. It means Moritz could be set for a baptism of fire.
Christopher Jullien is certain to start alongside Jozo or Bitton for the away day.
