NEIL LENNON has confirmed the club and himself are doing all they can to bring in the right type of target before Thursday’s next Uefa deadline.

The bhoys are up against Sarajevo on Wednesday night, but barring a total disaster they will find themselves in the next round of qualifiers which will commence the following week.

This means squad registration must be in for midnight Thursday at the latest. Celtic had to leave a player off their 25 man squad in this round because they didn’t meet Uefa criteria for homegrown talent. This ultimately means if Celtic do find a right back before the next qualifier, Neil Lennon would have to bump a Celtic player who is currently registered.

Right now, Celtic need one thing above all else; a quality right back. Kristoffer Ajer deputised in the position in Bosnia, but as the opposition gets tougher, Celtic will need the Norweigan back in at the heart of the defence.

Celtic fans are desperate to see the club land a right back, something which has been needed for over a year at this stage.

Neil Lennon has tried to quell some of the frustration by detailing he and the club are doing everything they can to make it happen.

“We’ve got four or five days [until the next Uefa deadline] and you can do a deal in three or four hours. It’s a question of whittling it down: is this the right price, the right age and the right wage? Lennon told the Scotsman.

“We have to filter that all down and have been agonising over a lot of players over the last two or three weeks. We want to get it right. Not just for the sake of short-term. There’s a lot of work being done in the background. We had a four-hour recruitment meeting on Wednesday on two positions. It’s quite energy-sapping sometimes.”
