NEIL LENNON has confirmed the status of some of his youngsters after Jeremie Frimpong made his surprise debut in the first team against Partick Thistle on Wednesday night.

We reported earlier this week the player had been training with the first team while some of the other young stars were playing in the Reserve Cup side. This alerted many to a potential debut for the Dutchman, maybe from the bench but not many would have seen his first start coming.

Celtic have a healthy amount of talent in their youth ranks and it’s fair to say the future looks bright for the club at the minute.

Asked if there was anymore players on the cusp of first team call up s this season the Celtic manager’s first thought was Karamoko Dembele.

The player got 45 minutes in a win over Hearts during the final game of last season but this term Lennon confirmed the reason why we haven’t seen the midfielder yet.

Responding to the question about youth players potential being called up Neil Lennon said: “Karamoko, but he’s had a foot injury and been out for a month so he’s just come back at development level” Neil Lennon told the 90 Minute Cynic.

“Luca Connell and Lee O’Connor bubbling under. Although Luca has picked up an injury as well at the minute”

“Afolabi as well, but Jeremie has come in and hit the ground running and you can see why we played him tonight”
