NEIL LENNON knows tonight is a massive night for the club if they have proper Europa League aspirations this term.

With that in mind, there has been much debate on who should start the game in goals for the bhoys against Sparta Prague.

Barkas lost his number one jersey after being injured during the Milan game two weeks ago. Now fit, the player sits on the bench and Neil Lennon has revealed that’s where he’ll stay for the minute.

Speaking about Scott Bain, the Celtic manager believes the Scottish goalkeeper hasn’t done anything to warrant being dropped over the last three games.

“He’s played in the team in the last few games and he has played very well and I don’t see any reason to change that at the minute.” Lennon told CelticTV.

“We kept a clean sheet in the semi-final and he was very good, very reassuring.

“So Scott has done nothing to warrant being left out of the team at the minute.

“That may change as the season goes on but at the minute I am quite happy to go with Scott because he is playing very well.”

OUR VIEW

Bain has conceded five goals in three games, something that if Barkas had done, would be getting stick for.

While the goalkeeper did manage to save the penalty against Lille, his performance was erratic in France and his tendency to hit the ball back into play across his goal will cost us at some point.

Barkas will likely get another chance to shine.

  1. Bain has done nothing wrong. He’s actually done a lot better than Barkas. The goals Bain has conceded. Aberdeen…2 penalties, a tap in after a save. Lille…no man at the back post so unlucky there and a big defection off Duffy. He looks a lot more assured and commanding. Barkas looks like a quivering wreck.
