NEIL LENNON has assured Celtic fans he and the club are in for a right back this summer but sounds a little frustrated in his pursuit of someone for the position.
Jack Stacey was reportedly a target but the player went from Luton to Bournemouth this week. Excitement was growing on Wednesday night when news filtered through Tommy Smith had left his Huddersfield camp to go sign for another club. Many thought Tommy was on his way to Celtic but it appears as if he is away to Stoke City and will remain in the Championship.
Neil Lennon isn’t stupid and knows Celtic desperately need some quality in that position. He has laid some fans fears that the board may not look to bring somebody in and have him play Ajer as a right back for the first half of the season.
“Right-back is a key area to strengthen. Kristoffer was outstanding, but we are looking to bring quality in.” he told RecordSport.
“It’s not an easy process, but we are working away in the background.”
It certainly isn’t an easy process both Brendan Rodgers and Lee Congerton couldn’t solve the problem position and now Neil Lennon and Nicky Hammond are finding the going tough.
