NEIL LENNON has given some insight into his and the club’s thinking come January when it comes to recruits.

It appears as if the Celtic gaffer is eyeing permanent deals when the window opens rather than loans. Celtic have successfully used the loan market to their advantage this season with Fraser Forster, Mohamed Elyounoussi and to a lesser extent Moritz Bauer – but it now looks like the Celtic manager has one eye on the future and perhaps the start of next season.

The Celtic manager spoke at the weekend of bringing in guys who could come in and settle in over the next three or four months and become a big asset to Celtic in the long run. You don’t get that with loan signings, which is why we think the manager is looking to bring guys in on a permanent deal.

“It’s difficult to get the right quality in January but if you can strengthen, if you think it will make you better and have the funds, then it makes perfect sense.” Neil Lennon told RecordSport.

“And doing it in January means you get them in the building for a few months before the start of next season.”

Celtic should always be flexible and pivot their plans if the right deal comes along whether it be permanent or otherwise. Right now, permanent deals would make much more sense unless you could get a Victor Wanyama like signing for six months.
