NEIL LENNON explained why he dropped two of his first team players for the Motherwell game.
Both Shane Duffy and Odsonne Edouard had to settle for a place on the bench as Albian Ajeti and Kristoffer Ajer came into the side.
It paid off in a big way with Ajet’s turn and shot early on giving Moi a tap in for the first goal, the Swiss striker made a good account of himself on the day.
Ajer put in a solid performance, that’s what we needed after so many mistakes as of late.
We still managed to concede from a set piece, we must get better at this or we will continue to be punished. When Motherwell did score, it was panic stations for the fans but thankfully the team dug deep and scored a third and fourth to make sure of the points.
Edouard and Duffy did get on in the end but Neil Lennon explained why they were on the bench.
“It’s just to freshen things up. Shane has played a lot of games. Kris is fit and will bring a freshness to the back four.” The Celtic manager explained to RecordSport before the game.
“Odsonne, I don’t think he’s fully fit yet from the Covid and he’s started the last two games.
“He’s not been at his sharpest, it’s been a bit stop-start for him.
“It’s the third game in a week and we have to keep him as fresh as possible.
“We’re just freshening things up again after Thursday night.
“We’ve rotated the squad all season. Thursday was actually the first team we haven’t changed the team for a while.
