NEIL LENNON gave Scott Brown his first Celtic start of 2021 and his first start overall since the quadruple treble cup final where he scored in extra time.

The Celtic captain has been used sparingly this season, his poor form along with the teams dive into mediocrity coincided and when Ismaila Soro getting a chance against Lille and taking it with both hands.

However, after a run of games and the defeat to St Mirren at the weekend, Brown came back into the starting fold.

Many were wondering what was going on with Soro but the manager made it clear he was only dropped due to fatigue.

“Soro has been struggling with a bit of fatigue. He’s a young player and has played a lot of games recently, so we thought it best that we took him out and gave him a rest.” The Irishman told the Scotsman.

This surely means we’ll see Soro back in the side in the next two games, surely.

Brown came in and had a good game, scoring the opener with a great diving header and showing a bit of passion.

The league might be done and dusted this year but we have to make sure we continue to win and bring down that large point deficit as much as possible.

It’s been a year to forget but the breakthrough of Turnbull and Soro have been some bright sparks.

As for the captain, we don’t know where he stands with the club beyond this season. The midfielder’s contract runs out at the end of the season with no new deal in sight.
