It is no secret that Celtic have had their problems with injuries this season. And one of the areas that has struggled badly with fitness issues is striker. As a result, there was not much backup for Odsonne Edouard in the first half of the season, with both Griffiths and Bayo spending time on the sidelines.
Things are starting to look up now though. The club have signed 21-year-old Polish striker, Patryk Klimala, in the January transfer window. Leigh Griffiths has returned to fitness and looks eager to make his mark this season. And it looks like Bayo is on the verge of a comeback as well.
While speaking with Herald Scotland, Neil Lennon revealed:
“He had the long-term injury, so he’s just back training. How far is he away from playing? Maybe another week or so.”
It will be interesting to see whether Celtic decide to keep Bayo at the club. Edouard is the undisputed starter at the moment, with Griffiths and Klimala looking set to battle for a backup spot. Thus, it is hard to understand where Bayo fits in Lennon’s plans considering he has failed to make an impact since joining the club last season.
