NEIL LENNON has hit back at the criticism he left Odsonne despite on too long during Celtic’s 4-1 win against AIK.
Many were critical of the manager after it appeared the Frenchman had succumbed to injury late in the game when the tie had virtually been won already.
Luckily, it was just cramp and the striker will NOT miss the game at Ibrox on Sunday.
Chris Sutton was hammering the point home on Premier Sport commentary during the Thursday night broadcast that Eddy should have been long taken off.
The Celtic manager has responded to those claims.
“I keep hearing this about Odsonne but he was rested at the weekend and he only played 70-80 minutes of the first leg against AIK,” Lennon told CelticTV.
“He went down with cramp on Thursday night so what does that tell you? He needs games, he needs the minutes.
“We had a brief discussion about it at half-time and he wanted to play on so he’s fine.
“It just seems a negative thing that people want to poke us with when we’ve just played brilliantly and won 4-1 but he’ll be fine for Sunday.”
This is the first time Eddy is going to be 100% for a game at Ibrox the 17/18 season. The frontman was injured in December and May – not being fully fit, Mikey Johnston played both games isolated and did not have a good showing.
The player’s presence up top for Celtic will be a massive thing for the team on Sunday.
