NEIL Lennon has been discussing the man who took his place in the Celtic hot seat this summer with Jim White on Talk Sport.

The Irishman keeps popping up in the English media every so often as he tried to rehabilitate his image to land a managerial role down south.

Neil has taken little responsibility for last season. The Irishman has pointed to his previous successes while blaming the fans, the players and the pandemic among other things for his failure to deliver in a massive season for Celtic.

In essence, Neil had a big role to play in our downfall and he has no intention of admitting it.

Now speaking about our new boss, the ex-Celtic gaffer has told Ange Postecoglou to get his own assistant in.

As quoted by SunSport:

“Probably not. There’s going to be a lot of analysis, scrutiny and invasion of his life and work.

“He’s very experienced having worked on the other side of the world, and he’ll bring a freshness to the club which is probably what is needed after a decade of success and a disappointing season last year.

“He’s got a blank canvas really, so he can come in and stamp his own ideas on the game.

“Some of the staff who were there last year will help him along.

“It will be interesting to see if he does eventually bring someone in with him because for a job of that size you do need somebody to lean on now and again so it’ll be interesting to see if he brings someone in to support him.

“Obviously recruitment is going to be important, along with selling players as well.”

Neil wasn’t allowed to bring in his own assistant in Garry Parker when he rejoined the club.

He inherited John Kennedy and Damien Duff; that combination did see another treble come the Hoops way. However, once Duff left to head back to Ireland, there seemed to be a disconnect between the coaching staff and the players.

Celtic have told us Ange Postecoglou has full control over his staff and is able to bring an assistant of his own if he wants.

  1. Clearly Celtic are lying to you. Maybe you are too close, brought into the tent by the promise of access as long as you write puff pieces. Kennedy and Strachan should have gone months ago. What to they add the stench of failure. Ange would have brought his own team if he was allowed to. Like every other manager in the world. Need a defence for next week.
