NEIL LENNON has told Record Sport he’s aware of the comments made by Kristoffer Ajer’s agent this week and made it clear he doesn’t call the shots.

Speaking after the Scottish game was postponed until further notice, Neil Lennon addressed the written press at Lennoxtown.

The question of the agent’s comments inevitably came up and the Celtic manager was unmoved by them.

“I’ve heard about the comments and I’m aware of it,” Lennon told RecordSport.

“At the end of the day the club will decide when players go, not agents or players themselves.

“Kris has never made any indication he wants to leave. He’s happy here, he has been playing very well, he has been very consistent.

“I think the agent has shot himself in the foot there. We have Kris tied down to a long-term contract so we’ll decide and not anyone else.

“There hasn’t been any interest in him that I’m aware of, certainly no one has called me about him.”

Ajer has two years left on his deal and there will be awareness by his agent Celtic will get the most money for the defender this summer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

Celtic have shown in the past though they won’t bow to player demands and any deal has to be right for them.

Ajer has reportedly turned down a new deal with the Scottish Champions.

There’s a good chance he could leave this summer if there’s enough interest. He’s disappointed a lot of the support with his agent’s outburst this week. Celtic have developed him well, but many feel he could be doing with one more season with the club and refining his skills before moving on.
