NEIL LENNON has confirmed Celtic and Southampton has a deal pre-agreed to keep Fraser Forster at the club this summer on another year’s loan but the player went cold on the idea.

Mentioned last week, Fraser was supposed to be announced alongside Moi Elyounoussi for the ten in a row season, however, upon returning to St Mary’s, the goalkeeper had a change of heart.

Neil Lennon confirmed that was the case and that they were now looking at other options.

“Well we are looking at other options.” Neil Lennon told Sky Sports as cited by SunSport.

“There was a deal agreed between both the clubs and it’s gone quiet from the player’s side of things.

“Like everything else, we would dearly love him back here.

“But if that’s not the case then we’ll look elsewhere.”

This falls well in line with what we’ve been reporting so far. It appears Fraser wants a permanent home.

If Celtic aren’t willing to meet the valuation of Fraser and can’t afford his wages outright then there’s very little hope of a deal.

Celtic have been linked with at least five goalkeepers in the past week — we’ll find out soon how serious they are with the SPFL fixture list out today. The champions kick off their new campaign in under a month.
