It was a year in the making when David Turnbull finally signed on the dotted line for Celtic.

The midfielder’s dreams were left in tatters in 2019 when he had agreed on a deal to join the Scottish Champions only for a medical to throw up an unknown knee issue which meant surgery and a long time out of the game. A year on, Celtic finally got their man and the deal was done very quickly. Now in the Celtic squad and getting on as a substitute for his new club, there are a lot of supporters who want to see David start for Celtic in the coming weeks. There’s no doubt the lad has talent but he’s only been training with his new teammates a short while and still adjusting to life at Parkhead. Neil Lennon was quick to shoot down the notion he should be throwing in any new signings without much thought and advocated the patient approach he’s been taking with David.

“David’s got the whole season in front of him and he’s getting used to our style of play and training.” the Celtic boss told RecordSport.

“People want players thrust in straight away but we’ve got to make sure we get the timing right.”

Hopefully David proves he’s ready to start sooner rather than later.

  1. What an idiot statement from lennon, “still getting used to our style of play” we should be scouting players who are used to the style of play, as not all players will be able to adapt.
