NEIL LENNON recognised something we all noticed after the latest game at Celtic Park; the pitch is not up to scratch.

Throughout the years, Celtic have prided themselves on maintaining their surface to a high standard so football can be played the right way.

The weather in Scotland never helps but if you’ve frequented Celtic Park over the years, you will have noticed they even manage to get the best out of the pitch during the winter.

However, this year, it’s looking very patchy and isn’t conducive to great footballs.

This is off the back of a £1.5m project implemented by Brendan Rodgers in what was called a hybrid pitch. Since it’s been put down, the pitch has had its problems. Brendan wanted the pitch to make sure his team had the best chance of playing the best football. There’s just no chance of that happening right now and Neil Lennon acknowledges that.

“Obviously we’re not getting carried away at the minute, but I’m very pleased with the performance tonight. The pitch is a little bit difficult at this time of year, but this was a really comfortable performance and a very good three points.” Lennon told CelticTV.

The bhoys will play on the surface again on Wednesday and we hope it won’t be to the detriment of the team.

It’s something which will have to be looked at very quickly but with no winter break this season, it becomes difficult.
