CELTIC’S bounce game against Morton on Friday didn’t just give injured players hitting the comeback trail some game time it also had an added bonus nobody is talking about.

Neil Lennon set up the game to give minutes to Olivier Ntcham, Jozo Simunovic, Filip Benkovic and Tom Rogic in a bid to get them fit and a bit sharper for the visit of Steven Gerrard’s men next weekend.

The news coming out of the game was Ntcham got 45 minutes, Benkovic and Jozo seemed to come through it unscathed and the disappointing takeaway from the day was Tom Rogic not being deemed fit enough to participate in the game which lessens the likelihood of a Glasgow Derby appearance.

There were notable run outs for some of the younger Celts and in particular Karamoko Dembele and Armstrong Oko-Flex who have been tearing up the developmental scene. The oversight by many here is those two players got some game time playing with Odsonne Edouard, Ntcham etc which can only benefit their progress as well as give Neil Lennon food for thought.

Both young stars can be genuine game changers if they continued to be nurtured in the correct way. If Celtic wrap up the league before too long, you could see these young lads take to the field and be handed their first team debuts.

Oko-Flex made one of Brendan Rodgers’ last Celtic squads as an unused sub.
