Neil Lennon was asked about the potential of Martin Boyle coming to Celtic in this window after speculation surrounding the player’s future surfaced online.

Boyle played under Neil Lennon at Hibernian and was one of his star players, building up a good relationship with the winger.

However, the Celtic manager has told the media the rumours he is in for the Hibs player is ‘complete speculation’.

The story was born out of Head of recruitment, Nicky Hammond taking in two Hibernian games over the past two weeks.

“I know Martin well, he did great for me at Hibs, but that is just complete speculation” Lennon told RecordSport.

“People are putting two and two together and getting five”

Neil Lennon is open and honest for the most part when it comes to transfers but the Celtic manager would have to be especially careful around talking about players in the SPFL.

If Celtic were in negotiations with Hibernian, the expectancy from fans to get the deal done like the McGinn or Turnbull transfers would become unbearable and would likely annoy Hibernian who apparently value Boyle at £1.5m according to SunSport.
