Neil Lennon has accepted that the Europa League tie against Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic on Thursday is a make or break game for his side if they want to achieve anything in Europe this season.

As reported by the Glasgow Times, Lennon admitted that Thursday night is a must-win, if we want any chance of trying to qualify from Group H, after finding themselves bottom of the group, with no wins after three games.

“We want to come away with the three points, otherwise Europe is over for us I think. It is probably all or nothing and that’s a great incentive for us.

“We have to have a positive response after that last game to have any chance of qualifying, we have to go there and win. We know we need to play a lot better than the home game. That night defensively we weren’t very good and if we win it gives us half a chance and keeps the group alive.

“A point isn’t any good and we don’t want to lose it, so we are going all out to win. We need to try and win both pf the next two games and we know it won’t be easy but that’s the aim.”

Many will remember the last Europa League game against Sparta at Parkhead and it certainly wasn’t pretty. An injury/covid riddled side ran riot in Glasgow running away as comfortable 4-1 winners.

Going into this game, that has left the majority of Celtic fans with pretty much no hope of advancing from this group, with two top sides in AC Milan and Lille well ahead of Neil Lennon’s side.

If we can get the victory, it would leave us with an outside shout of getting out the group but it is very unlikely and would take a lot of work to get to that stage with some tough games ahead.
