NEIL LENNON has provided an update and believes Celtic will add as they go in the player department over the next month or so.

The Celtic manager is acutely aware of losing so many players in the summer and knows he is short of depth in some areas. The club have been aggressively pursuing a striker over the past few weeks and Lenny gave an insight into why that is. Because last season Leigh, Bayo and Eddy were all out at the one time, we ended up playing Lewis Morgan up front in a Glasgow Derby Cup Final. The manager doesn’t want to see that scenario unfolding again.

With regards to new faces, Lenny admits even though Moi is back at training, Barkas feels like the first real new face in this summer. With the SPFL kicking off on Sunday, there will be no new additions before then.

It’s imperative Celtic get a move on, injuries could dictate how quickly we try to bring players into the club.

Speaking to CelticTV, the manager said:

“We’ve had Mohamed Elyounoussi in the building for a few weeks, though he was here last year. Barkas is the first real new addition to the squad, but we’re looking to add as we go along.

“Strikers play in the most important position on the pitch.

“We’ve had a few injuries and absentees in that department. So if there’s a quality one available and we think it’s right, we’ll pursue it.

Asked about interest in Steven Fletcher, Lennon replied:

“Steven Fletcher’s a good player, but I don’t want to talk about individuals. We’ve been linked with a lot of strikers, midfielders and centre-halves.”

Fletcher has made it known through friends he wants to sign for Celtic on a pay as you play type deal.

“There are one or two areas we want to add to because we’ve let seven or eight go and only added Barkas.

“It’s important we bring some more quality in.”

Patryk Klimala could see his game time increase after a steady pre-season. The pole along with Ismaila Soro came in during the January window but didn’t feature. This could be their chance to shine!
