NEIL LENNON has explained why Olivier Ntcham wanted to leave the club and believes it had nothing to do with the club itself.

The Celtic manager spoke to BBC Sportscene after the 4-0 win against Kilmarnock, revealing it was a general apathy for living in Glasgow and not having the hunger during the covid era to kick-on for the club.

Speaking about the transfer after Olivier made the loan move to France, the Celtic manager believes Oli and a few others have been in the same boat.

“It’s not the club that he’s unhappy with. I think it’s just his life in Glasgow.

“He was a bit fed up and indifferent about the Scottish game, and I think he wanted a new challenge, like a few of them have maintained since the start of the season. It’s a difficult thing to claw them back in. He’s a talented player.

“This time last year he was absolutely superb, between January and March. Between then and the lockdown, something got disconnected with Olivier; he couldn’t get that desire or passion back to play.”

It would explain why we have had so many insipid performances this season but it’s also concerning some of these players are still in and around the team. We have to be at our best until the end of the campaign, finishing as strongly as possible.

We need every player to be giving 100% out there to make sure we can claw some of the points back and not a have such a hefty gap between ourselves and first place.

If there’s anyone like Ntcham in the dressing room, they should not be getting game time between now and the end of the season.
