NEIL LENNON has shaken off the notion the Ibrox clubs fans are delighted with his appointment at Celtic and pointed out the reasons why.

As reported by the Express, the Celtic manager had no time for anybody else’s opinion when it came to him getting the job done and he’s focused on what he’s going to do.

Asked about them being happy with the appointment, he gave them a little dig by saying. “Hopefully, they’ll be wrong again.” – the ‘again’ part attributed to the multitude of times this fan base have misread or just not wanted to see the real situation. From a fan base who once roared at drawing Celtic in the semi-final of the cup to getting knocked out 4-0 when it came to semi-final day.

Speaking openly, Neil Lennon is under no illusions as to who is playing what role in Scottish football and that his own side needs a lift with new players ahead of next season.

“Brendan did the Invincible [season in 2016/17], then they won another treble and they were told they weren’t as good as the previous year.

“Now they’ve gone and won another treble. He set a huge benchmark which I want to follow.

“Rangers have got to try and stop us doing nine or ten, that’s their job.”

“I can’t comment on what Rangers are going to do or who they are going to recruit.

“We are going try and recruit the best players we can and give the squad a lift because it needs a lift.

“And give the players who have been at it for three seasons now the jag of quality in there that they need.”

Neil has only officially been in the job since last Friday but he has been scouting players and looking at his options since coming in the door at Celtic Park. The Celtic fans are watching on with keen interest as the Irishman gets to work on revamping a successful but tired looking side.

Four Champions League qualifiers await Neil and his men come July, which means this month is pivotal.
