NEIL LENNON has told Celtic fans he’s excited about being in charge of this current group of players and being tasked with improving the squad before the start of the season. While he names nobody specifically the new Celtic gaffer has given an insight into what type of player he’s looking for.

The Irishman has been in charge of the squad since February but always maintained he just came in and continued the work and system Brendan Rodgers was using. The reason for doing so was so he wouldn’t disrupt the flow of the team or overwhelm them with his own ideas when the season was at a critical point.

Neil went onto help Celtic to their 8th consecutive league title and Scottish Cup which landed the club the treble treble.

All eyes are on what Celtic will do in the transfer market with plenty of speculation but nobody in through the door yet. Neil has made it clear he wants HIS team to get the ball up the field a bit quicker than his predecessor wanted. Less patient and obvious build-up play and more exciting football.

Speaking to the CelticTV Neil’s enthusiasm shines through: “The thought of bringing in players, being in control of the squad is exciting.

“It’s also a challenge, and one that I’m really looking forward to. I don’t think we need to change things too much.

“I’d like us to be a little more forward-thinking in terms of our build-up play at times.

“I’d like to get some more players in who will get us off our seats, because that’s what the public demand.”

If Neil can land players on that brief, nobody will be happier than the fans.
