While the world brought in a new year with god knows what kind of resolutions and promises, Neil Lennon was plotting a deadly Celtic attack for 2020.

The truth is most Celtic fans have never understood why Celtic stopped playing with two strikers. It’s an understandable call when you are playing a Bayern Munich or PSG away to man up the midfield at the expense of a striker.

Looking at Celtic’s competition in the SPFL the last few seasons is there really a need not to play with two forwards? It’s probably a debate left for another day because Neil Lennon’s plan to play two strikers for 2020 and to switch to a 3-5-2 was paying out all kinds of rewards.

But the Celtic manager was not taking any credit for the deadly duo when speaking with the Sunday Post that is Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths.

“You tend to find that clever players will be on the same wavelength.”

“It’s something you can’t coach. They’re linking up by making split-second decisions on the pitch and that is not something I would take credit for.”

“We do work on combinations but, ultimately, it’s down to them.”

Hopefully, Celtic fans will get to see the deadly duo back in action at some point this summer.
