NEIL LENNON has had to field so many questions this summer, you could forgive the Irishman for becoming a bit disgruntled with some of the sillier things asked of him.

However, the Celtic manager is usually on form more often than not and he had a great response when he was asked about his former boss Martin O’Neill.

Celtic Legend, O’Neill was dismissed from his post at Nottingham Forest after just five months in charge of the club he once won the European Cup with. The move shocked many, including Neil Lennon. The man who brought Neil to Celtic in the first place is now without a job in football which led one journalist to ask if there was room for O’Neill at Celtic going forward.

Never mind the intricacies and the 20 year odd dynamic between both men, it would be a crazy suggestion to bring the former Celtic boss back to the club in a diminished capacity.

However, when asked about the situation, Neil gave a brilliant answer to bat away that suggestion.

“I was very surprised. I don’t know where that came from.” Neil told SunSport.

“But it just shows you the rapid nature of it all because there was a new coach in place 20 minutes later. Something about that doesn’t sit right with me.

“A player revolt can be an easy excuse. I’m not aware of any evidence of that whatsoever.

“I hope he gets back in. He’s only in his mid-60s and you know what I think of him as a manager. It’s whether he fancies it.

“Could he come back   here in some role? He is fed up telling me what to do. He’s been doing it for 25 years!

“That would be an interesting one, but it’s not on the horizon.”
