Former Rangers attacker Neil McCann doesn’t think Celtic should have been awarded a penalty in the closing stages of their 4-1 win over Ross County yesterday.
While they dominated proceedings, it took the Bhoys until the closing stages to get into the comfort zone.

Indeed, after Kyogo Furuhashi’s brilliant header put them 2-1 up with nine to play, it looked like Brendan Rodgers’ men were going to have a job on their hands to hold out.
After a duo of terrific long diagonal passes from Arne Engels and Kyogo, though, the ball fell to Yang Hyun-jun in the box. The South Korean looked to control it and was brought down by Ross County defender James Brown. The full-back clattered the winger and didn’t get anything on the ball.
While referee Matthew McDermott didn’t initially point to the spot, after review, a penalty was rightly awarded.
Although it looked like a stonewaller, pundit McCann took a strange stance on it on Sportscene on Saturday night: “I don’t think VAR should be getting involved here,” he said.
“I think Matthew McDermott has actually made an on-field decision, again, a lot like Hatate and Eli Campbell, there is contact, but for me, Brown’s trying to get his leg across to almost bump him, to shield him, and Yang actually goes with the outside of the boot, misses it, then he takes it away.
“I mean, there’s going to be contact if you’re bodying someone, and you’re allowed to be physical.”
Arne Engels missed the initial kick from 12 yards, but after County ‘keeper Jordan Amissah was adjudged to have been off his line, the Belgian netted at the second time of asking.
Luke McCowan added a fourth deep into stoppage time, rounding off a productive afternoon for the Celts in the Highlands.
You can’t expect a reasonable and sensible comment from McCann because of the fact that he is neither reasonable nor sensible. He caught the sickness when he joined the old Ibrox club and has never been cured of the bug. He is not familiar with facts, only his opinions, which have been framed around hating Celtic and anything to do with that. He is not a person you can take seriously and his ludicrous comments are embarrassing. It tells you a lot when Sportscene continually has him on. They don’t do facts either. Those panelist’s on Match of the Day are all much superior in every way.
The scum have an agenda in place for some time now, trying to claim how we are getting beneficial decisions from cheating mibs and VAR.
And the scum cheerleaders are very happy to try and promote the agenda also.
Now it’s right up there, alongside the survival lie from the scum.
But it’s all part of being a thick stupid horrible, hun scum zombie cheerleading eejit, that can still get jobs to pollute the airways with there shite talk
Possibly an unpopular view, but I thought it was a very soft penalty to say the least. Up the other end, we would be raging if it was given against us
