NEIL WARNOCK has revealed he tried to sign Boli Bolingoli last week before the player was caught flouting lockdown rules.

The Celtic defender has been out of favour at the club since January, Greg Taylor has taken over as the number one guy. It’s no secret before what happened, Celtic were already keen on getting Boli out the door either on loan or on a permanent basis.

Warnock revealed he called Celtic last week to enquire about Boli but nothing came of it at the time and the ‘Boro manager is thankful he didn’t manage to land the Belgian.

Speaking on talkSPORT as cited by SunSport, he said: “I rang Celtic last week to try and get Bolingoli on loan, good job we didn’t get him.”

Asked if he would go back in for the player now Celtic 100% want rid, Warnock replied: “No I don’t think so.”

There’s very little doubt the player’s Celtic career is over at this point. The club are looking into possible loan deals to get rid of the Belgian for the rest of the season. His antics will not have impressed many but there will always be a club who takes a chance on a player.

Celtic will be making sure they find one, otherwise, he sits in the reserves.
