The two names who have been touted for the past two weeks has been Birger Meling and Greg Taylor when it comes to a potential left-back coming into the club.

It’s been three weeks since Kieran Tierney left the building and although Boli Bolingoli was already there to lot straight into the team, the need for another left-back to provide cover or competition is clear.

Reports tonight have thrown another name into the mix with regards to Celtic’s chase for a Tierney replacement.

According to SunSport, former Barcelona target Gideon Mensah is now on the hoops radar. This is ironically from left-field, coming from nowhere and the reports themselves ensnaring from Ghana.

I don’t know about anybody else but if media in Ghana know who Celtic are trying to sign then we’d be genuinely perplexed.

Mensah, 21, plays for Red Bull Salzburg and spent the second half of last season on-loan to Sturm Graz.
