FORMER Dundee Player Kevin Holt has slammed Neil McCann after he was shown the Dens Park door and slammed his treatment of Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain.

McCann was given his books after a very poor start to the season – bringing to an end his 18-month stint as Dundee manager.

During the tumultuous time, the former Sky Sports pundit fell out with fellow manager’s as well as his own players.

Holt claimed McCann got ‘too emotional’ after defeats and would go off the rails in the dressing room after the game only to come in on Monday and apologise to the players.

This rubbed many the wrong way and set McCann on a collision course with Scott Bain who had enough of the manager’s inability to keep his cool.

Holt, now playing in Cyprus was asked if he was surprised by Dundee’s decision to bin McCann.

His response was telling – “Am I surprised? No. Neil is an emotional character. He would lose it after games and then on the Monday he would come in and admit he’d gone too far.” Holt told SunSport.

“That kind of passion is not necessarily a bad thing in a manager.

“But he would also fall out with players far too easily in the heat of the moment, like with Scott.

“That led to players who were more than good enough to play every week leaving the club. And it’s Dundee who pay the price for that in terms of lost transfer fees or having to pay up guys’ contracts.”

Holt believes one of the biggest mistakes McCann made at the club was to alienate the now Celtic goalkeeper and had he repaired the damage, Scott may not have moved on and Dundee could have been in a better position.

“Scott is one of the best keepers in Scotland — the fact he’s at Celtic now tells you that.

“But he left the club for free because Neil fell out with him.

  1. Shows McCann as the bitter little EBT dual contract cheating runt that he is, must have been the cheating culture promoted at Ibrox which fostered that cheating three points mentality.

You have to wonder at those within skysports/BT sports that employee these cheats, they may as well have Lance Armstrong and Ben Johnson on board.
