Australia Boss Hits Back in Celtic Rogic Row

The plot thickens on Tom Rogic’s Australia omission from their Friendly against Oman at the weekend after Graham Arnold revealed he did not include Rogic in the squad.

There was an uproar from the Celtic support and Australian pundits when Tom Rogic was not even in the squad in the 5-0 friendly victory against Oman because they had not allowed the midfielder to stay at Celtic for the Glasgow Derby but then sat him on the sidelines.

According to Socceroos boss Arnold, it was Celtic’s call NOT to allow the player to be in the squad and he was respecting the information he was given from the club’s physios.

The relationship between the club and Australia doesn’t seem the best at the moment with Socceroos refusing to allow Rogic to stay in Glasgow for the derby.

However, if this latest development is correct, why would Celtic have even fought the call-up to the Australia squad? If Tom was carrying an injury, would he even have played at Ibrox?

Speaking about leaving Rogic our for his side’s friendly, Arnold went on the defensive after some heavy criticism.

“We received an email from Celtic asking us not to play him because he had a knee issue.” Arnold told SunSport.

“So we didn’t play him.

“Mark Bosnich has said I’ve left him out on purpose and that I’m a poor man. I didn’t do it.

“He’s got a small knee issue and it blew up on the plane, on the flight.

“He’s here because he wants to be here.

“The most important thing is the fitness and the health of the kid. Celtic asked us not to play him.

“We have emails to prove it. I would like to get my phone out and show you but I won’t”

Rogic looks set to play a big part in Australia’s Asian Cup campaign with the tournament kicking off on January 5th with the Socceroos first tie the following day.
