Celtic Park is widely renowned for its iconic atmosphere, particularly on famous European nights.

Stars such as Lionel Messi and Rio Ferdinand have hailed the Parkhead faithful for the electricity they bring to the ground, the latest being Jonas Hofmann.

The attacking midfielder is just off the back of a historic season with Bayer Leverkusen. He played in all but two of his side’s league games as they won the Bundesliga for the first time.

He was also involved in the DFB-Pokal final at the weekend, playing the first half of a 1-0 win over Kaiserslautern which secured an invincible double.

31, Hofmann has been around the block in Germany a fair few times. He has turned out for the likes of Hoffenheim, Mainz, and Borussia Dortmund but the bulk of his appearances came for Borussia Monchengladbach.

He spent eight years with the side, during which he played against Celtic in the Champions League.

The Hoops drew 1-1 in Germany but when Gladbach came to Parkhead, they won 2-0 and Hofmann has praised the atmosphere he experienced that night.

The German international was asked by TikToker ‘Fiago’ who the ‘craziest fans’ he’d ever seen were in a recent video. “Of course the fans of Celtic Glasgow”, he said.

“We played there with Monchengladbach in the Champions League. This atmosphere was unbelievable. I only saw the faces of guys and they were only shouting, and shouting. It was unbelievable.”
