Yesterday we published a story that quoted the president of football club Motagua who claimed Emilio Izzaguire had been offered a 6 months contract back at Celtic. Izaguirre is currently on pre-season training with Montagua.

The clubs president Atala claimed the 33-year-old could return to Glasgow on a short term contract with Celtic the only football club the president named.

“We spoke to Emilio Izaguirre’s agents this week and he has offers from clubs in the USA, Japan and Australia.

“There is also the possibility of him returning to Celtic, but that is only for a short time of six months.

It would of have been bizarre for Neil Lennon to make that move when Emilio left the club only weeks ago. It also seems bizarre that a club president would come out and name Celtic if the reports were not true but here were are.

This morning the Scottish Sun is saying no such offer has been made to the left-back. That will please a lot of Celtic fans who felt that Izzaguire served Celtic well enough already and his time had come to an end, mainly down to his age.

With speculation once again mounting about Keiran Tierney to Arsenal stories like these can go legs pretty quickly. Why the president of a club would come out and make those remarks and only name Celtic is a strange one.
