Former Celt Niall McGinn is on cloud 9 after helping his country qualify for the Euro’s next year. The Northern Irishman cannot believe they have managed to achieve the feat.

He has likened qualification to a fairytale and he doesn’t want it to stop there.

The attacking midfielder believes if Northern Ireland and qualify for a major tournament then Aberdeen are capable of securing this year’s title.

“Who knows come March or April if Aberdeen are still up there challenging for the league then anything is possible. Dreams can come true.

“I am living proof they can as I’m part of a Northern Ireland squad that has qualified for a major finals tournament for the first time in 30 years. That’s what dreams are made of.”

Aberdeen started strongly but were dropping off before the International break. They remain at the top of the league just 1 point ahead of Celtic with a top of the table showdown scheduled for the end of October.

The Dons have beaten Celtic once this season, to do it again might have Niall and his teammates dreaming.
