Celtic’s newest recruit and talent spotter Nicky Hammond has delivered a message to supporters after signing a permanent deal with the club.

Hammond was brought in during the summer to assist the scouting team with identifying and securing targets for the club. Many believe the summer window just gone has been the best in a while for the club and the supporters are happy with the permanent appointment.

“Celtic is a very special football club and I am delighted to take up this position with such an iconic institution.” told the official Celtic Website.

“I have enjoyed my connection immensely with the club so far and I was very keen to join Celtic.

“We have done some good work over the summer. I wanted to play my part in continuing to improve the club’s processes and ultimately ensure that we continue to recruit and develop the best possible players we can at Celtic.

“I have experience of many football clubs and I know that Celtic is a club of the highest quality, a club with the highest standards and that it is blessed with some great people.

“Across the football department we will work together to ensure that we continue to meet these high standards and do all we can ultimately to play our part in bringing success to the club and our supporters.

“This was very important for me and a huge factor in deciding to move to Glasgow.”

Hammond officially replaced Lee Congerton who failed miserably at Celtic before moving off to Leicester in the summer to join Brendan Rodgers.

It’s refreshing to have someone in who appears to know his remit a little better. It’s believed Hammond had a big hand in some of the youngsters coming in this summer which included Jeremie Frimpong. The scout will already be working on targets for January as Celtic look to add to their squad for the second half of the season.
