Two weeks into Nicky Hammond’s summer Audition as head scout for Celtic and it looks like we’ve missed out on two right back targets.

The former Reading and West Brom scout has taken over from Lee Congerton but only on a temporary basis for this transfer window where the club will assess his performance as they go.

Hammond is tasked with using his knowledge to find Celtic some quality at an affordable price. Celtic’s last two targets Jack Stacey and Tommy Smith both emanated from England where Hammond has spent his career. If he’s using his inside knowledge of the game down south he should also know that any player Celtic try to sign will come with an inflated price tag.

Romain Sawyers from Brentford is another English based player Celtic have been heavily linked with.

Celtic need to box much clever and look around different leagues of Europe to spot talent. Hammond officially took up his post on July 1, however, there’s no way he didn’t have conversations with the club before his start date about potential targets he had in mind.

Could he pull a rabbit out of that hat?
