Celtic’s former head of operations Nick Hammond has landed a new ‘short-term’ role with Newcastle United as they look to manage their way out of the relegation zone in the January transfer window.
Hammond landed a similar role with Celtic on a short term basis before he got the gig on a full-time basis. The former West Brom man didn’t last long in his role and left shortly after Neil Lennon was dismissed for the dismal season Celtic had during the lockdown.
Nick Hammond coming in for below role (short-term transfer advisor). Ex Reading & Celtic. Was told he gave brilliant interview & was in pole for the position last week. Now has a chance to impress, although search goes on for permanent DoF. #nufc https://t.co/mib8q1dJeH

The former Celtic man now has a massive job on his hands but with a lot of cash to help Eddie Howe steer the club away from the Championship.
Newcastle’s new owners have a five-year plan and know they can’t make a title winning team overnight, it’s a process.
However, Hammond will have to show more than he did at Celtic. It’s a totally different ball game their time and he’ll have the help of some major cash injections to help bring in the players he scouts.
Celtic have yet to replace Hammond at the club.
