NICOLA STURGEON has again urged for caution when it comes to reintroducing competitive sports at any level in Scotland.

The UK Government seem to be instructing the FA to go ahead and find a way to play closed-door football. The money involved in the Premier League reaching a conclusion on the field is prompting the push down south.

Up North, as we’ve seen from a resolute Nicola Sturgeon, nothing in Scotland will be rushed going forward and football isn’t on the high list of priorities as lockdown measures start to get eased.

Scottish football has limited options.

Speaking on GMB as reported by SunSport, Nicola was asked by Piers Morgan if football could return:

“You always manage to squeeze in a question about football!

“I’m not the world’s biggest football fan.

“I think we have to be very cautious about that as we have to about everything else.

“The Scottish government is talking to the football authorities here in Scotland to see what might be possible.

“But as with everything else right now, our focus has to be on continuing to tackle this virus and continuing to save lives.

“If that means a bit longer without football, I’m afraid that’s a price we’re going to have to pay.”

Scottish football is in disarray at the moment with self-interest on the menu everywhere you look.

The game up north is likely to look a lot different going forward until certain criteria is met.

There are task forces appointed to look into the viability of a closed-door game in Scotland and they will report back in due course. Ultimately, it will be the government who give the green light.
