Nir Bitton hasn’t been part of the last two Celtic squads. The Israeli has become a dependable substitute later in games to help shore up the midfield.

Ange claimed everyone had a clean bill of health other than Josip Juranovic, so we were again surprised to see Nir missing from the matchday squad.

There was no explanation for his Hampden absence but Ange came out before the game on Sunday and told supporters Nir was struggling with a slight issue.

As cited by Record Sport, Ange said: “He’s got a bit of an issue. A slight issue.”

An injury that’s kept Nir out two matchday squads feels a bit more than a slight injury. In the grand scheme of things, we have the cover to make sure there’s no real issue with Nir’s absence.

However, the midfielder has been brilliant when called upon for Ange, especially as the season has wore on. It would be good to see the Celtic star back in the mix and be able to celebrate on the pitch if Celtic do get this title over the line.

Celtic just need two wins from their next four games to be crowned champions of Scotland.
