Many were left shocked over the summer when flamboyant attacker Jota left Celtic to join Suadi Arabian side Al-Ittihad. Although he received a colossal financial boost from the move, things haven’t worked out for the Portuguese winger.
He was left out of the Al-Ittihad squad due to a rule regarding the number of foreign players and had been linked with a return to Parkhead. Football Scotland reports, however, that such a move is not on the table and that there is no current interest in Jota from Celtic.
The news will be disappointing for some hopeful supporters, although it did seem like a pipe dream. The 24-year-old would have been welcomed back to Parkhead with open arms, but Brendan Rodgers has a wealth of depth in the wide areas at the minute.
Daizen Maeda is in red-hot form meanwhile Yang and Luis Palma are just being bled into the team. Although Liel Abada is injured, he is a useful asset when fit, and fans are eagerly awaiting Marco Tilio’s debut.
The Hoops are evidently strong on the flanks, but Jota is a difference-maker and can produce a moment of magic at the drop of a hat. He would welcomed back to the east end of Glasgow with open arms, but right now, a return is not looking likely.
Never was goin tae happen. Never will. Happie that he’s happie. The CFC suits were very happie wae his transfer cash.
