Former Celtic attacker Joe Miller has stated that signing current Benfica loanee Jota would be a ‘no-brainer’ for Ange Postecoglou and the club.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Miller has assessed the potential business which the Hoops may look to do in this January window, as Postecoglou continues to add to his squad for the second half of the campaign.

Miller believes that Jota is a player which the club will be able to sell on for profit in the future, as he admitted that Celtic should be pulling out all the stops to sign the 22-year old up on a permanent deal.

Jota has set the place alight. He looks like he’s enjoying playing first-team football.

“There’s not much competition for his position right now; Mikey Johnston hasn’t quite been setting the heather on fire when he’s come in.

Jota is very direct, that’s the thing. Ange has given him that freedom. He hugs the touchline really well and takes players on. That’s what I like about him.

“Clubs around the world will pay money for that type of player. He can also score goals, so I’ve no doubt he is worth the money that’s being talked about.

“He’d be a good buy. One that you’d expect Celtic would make a profit on further down the line.

“That’s the signing policy for Celtic, and he fits the bill.”

I think just about every Celtic supporter would agree with what Miller has to say about Jota, given the winger’s impact since joining on transfer deadline day in the summer.

Jota is precisely the sort of player Celtic fans love to watch. Bags of ability and a wide player who loves to take on his man, creating and scoring plenty of goals for Ange Postecoglou’s improving side.

It is fair to say we have missed him during his spell out injured. However, hopefully, it isn’t too long before he is back fit and firing. Fingers crossed that also aligns with a permanent deal in Glasgow too.
