THE NEWS yesterday that 34,000 Bayern fans were looking to snap up just 3200 tickets for their visit to Celtic Park set alarm bells off for the authorities.

With so many German fans desperate to sample the iconic Celtic Park atmosphere on a European night the clamour for tickets has been unbelievable.

However, concerns over a Cologne like invasion we seen earlier this season in the hollow husk that is the Emirates are wide of the mark.

There may be 34,000 Bayern fans chomping at the bit to get into the stadium on Haloween, but there are over 100,000 Celtic fans who are desperate to do the same.

The fans who procured their three-match package for the group stages are currently in possession of a ‘golden ticket’ in the eyes of many. These lucky fans will not be selling their tickets and if they can’t make it to the game, you can be damn sure it will be going to another Celtic fan.

Luckily, the self-policing within the Celtic support is generally good when it comes to ticket sales and you’ll rarely see any supporter trying to rip another off above face value. It does happen but not to any real extent.

This is bad news for Bayern fans who are coming over in the hope of nabbing a ticket somehow for the matchday four showdown.

However, Glasgow bars may be set for a booming couple of days with the visiting support ready to take in what Glasgow has to offer. The money Celtic’s European inclusion means to tourism is quite significant to many.

First up, Celtic go to the Allianz on Thursday which promises to be a tough and memorable night for Brendan Rodgers bhoys and the Celtic fans get to sample Oktoberfest in Germany – we predict a few sore heads Thursday morning.

  1. Ffs, i know many pundits especially pr**ks like Charlie Nicholas think we will be far off Bayern’s pace but if the bhoys turn up on Thursday to play Bayern which is when the writer thinks the tie is taking place then we will be in trouble.Any way Nicholas who loves to talk us down to his English paymasters just like he did pre- Anderlecht. After getting that prediction of doom wrong he’s at it again foreseeing even more of a footballing lesson being handed out to his former paymasters and boyhood idols.

  2. Aye its the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE we are playing in ALL OUR other Europa teams from Scotland are out in the EARLIER rounds as normal so no THURSDAY euro games involving our teams HH

  3. Nicholas as Ever the Preverbial Knob.He does talk some mince does Charlie. His paymasters must be thinking Yesss Charles You Tell Em……Bellend…He should be ashamed of himself,But then wtf do you expect from a Gooner.

  4. I was disappointed to see Maggie Mays turning away Paris fans after the game in the last round.

Bayern Fans generally will be coming for a good time, hope the pubs look after them.

  5. I think many Bayern fans will be convinced they will get in somehow just like Koln at Arsenal but the circumstances are chalk and cheese, no general sale for this game and moreover no opportunity whatsoever for many Celtic fans to get near a ticket for any CL game, nobody will be selling that’s for sure, Arsenal however allowed Koln fans to Join their membership scheme and buy individual tickets for a match with low ticket sales.

Many Bayern will travel, maybe around 10000 but unlike Koln fans they won’t be watching it in the flesh and had better get reading up on Glasgow city centre pubs
