ANGE POSTECOGLOU watched on from the sidelines as his side was soundly beaten in Madrid.

The European champions got a gift of a start, with Celtic handing them two penalties within the first twenty minutes of the match. Celtic then failed to pull one back, with Courtois saving Juranovic’s effort from twelve yards.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Celtic, as the players showed great character not to allow their heads to drop as they continued surging forward in search of consolation goals.

Speaking after the match, Postecoglou is hoping to help his players learn from the campaign and is already looking forward to next year, hoping to qualify for the competition. [Glasgow Live]

“I’ve said before the key for us is to be here every year. I’ve no doubt the players will grow from this.

“Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate amongst others. They are growing every game. This is their sixth game at this level of football.

“I’ve no doubt they will be better footballers quite a few of our guys. We will learn from it but only if we qualify again.”

Of course, winning the league will be the main objective now. Doing so would see Celtic back in the group stages of the competition next season. With players already having experience and with the opportunity to develop further with new additions, Postecoglou will be itching to get back onto the scene.
