We reported last night former Celtic star Dedryck Boyata got his first goal for his new side Hertha Berlin. The Belgium defender has not long made his debut after initially moving to German injured. Boyata’s last game for Celtic was limping off during the club’s 2-1 win over The Rangers last season.

Having signed a pre-contract the player moved in the summer and Celtic had to completely rebuild their defence. Boyata left rather amicably in the end after the tumultuous start to last season and after his goal for Berlin there’s further proof he’s still in good standing with Celtic players and Ex-Celts.

Taking to instagram after the game, the defender was delighted to get on the scoresheet with his side beating Koln 4-0 on Sunday.

Seven current Celtic players congratulated Boyata on social media while Filip Benkovic, Mikael Lustig and Nadir Ciftci also congratulating the defender.

If the Celtic captain is still a fan after you leave on a free, I suppose there’s very little there to suggest there was nothing more than well wishes after his time at Celtic had come to an end.

Karamoko Dembele called the Belgian defender big bro during his time at Celtic so it’s no surprise the youngster is still following his progress.
