Neil Lennon spoke at the end of October about Celtic’s woeful run of form. It wasn’t just poor results it was the continuous downward and predictable performances that gave Celtic fans more than a cause for concern.

That’s when it looked bleak but things were still salvageable. Many asked for change, there’s no room for sentiment when it comes to what’s best for the club, and the best thing in October was for Neil Lennon to be relieved of his managerial responsibilities.

Instead, the club doubled down on the manager, despite what they seen on the pitch. It’s incredible to think they would have based some of their decision on a minority of trouble makers after the Ross County game. Not to be seen bowing to their aggression.

Speaking to BBC when Celtic fans were raising major alarm bells, Neil Lennon said there was no justification for him being sacked. Let’s be clear, there was.

However, the manager made the admission, if things deteriorate further then they’d need to ‘look at something else’.

“We’ve lost one game in the league and pundits are talking about me being two games away from the sack. Players getting singled out, abused, criticised, it’s absolutely shocking.

“It’s media-driven, there’s no question. I have seen two newspapers run polls on whether I should get sacked or not. I have never seen it before in 20 years I have been here.

“There’s no justification for me to be sacked. None whatsoever. If things start to deteriorate rapidly, I’ll hold my hands up and say, ‘this isn’t working, we need to look at something else’. But at the moment we’re nowhere near that.”

Since then, we’ve been humiliated further in Europe, lost another Glasgow Derby and he was at the helm pushing for the Dubai trip which we all know how that panned out. We’ve lost the league and show no signs of improvement under the current regime. Managers have lost their job at Celtic for much less. Neil Lennon should have been given some leeway but the amount of freedom he’s been given to plunge this season into a farce has been frustrating.
