There was a lot of noise from fans during the week when the Celtic starting eleven was announced for the Hoops game against Ferencvaros. Fans couldn’t get over the fact that Neil Lennon had started a game with no strikers with two forwards left sitting on the bench.

The fears from the fans were found to be justified as the Bhoys came crashing out of the Champions League after a 2-1 defeat. Neil Lennon’s team selection was the only reason for yet another European failure as far supporters were concerned.

The manager’s comments after the game caused even more anger and the Irishman has a big job on his hands to turn things back in his favour with fans and probably players too.  Motherwell may be sitting at the bottom of the SPFL table but they have caused enough problems down the years to the Champions for their league position to be taking with a pinch of salt.

Neil Lennon needs a big win today to ease some pressure going into the international break, anything other than a win will have serious repercussions. So his team selection today needed to be spot on but the manager has gone once again without any strikers in his starting eleven.

The manager is taking a massive risk repeating what most view as the main mistake during the week by leaving his strikers on the bench for this clash and he better pray his selection doesn’t result in any dropped points before the international break.

Motherwell’s trip to Celtic Park today will have one notable absentee from their usual squad after Celtic signed David Turnbull during the week after nearly 12 months of a collapsed deal. The new signing has made it on to today’s bench.
