Tuesday evening was Matt O’Riley’s first taste of Champions League football at Celtic Park and has admitted that even though Celtic lost the game they left the pitch feeling as though they’d won.

There was a lot to be proud about with Ange Postecoglou’s team giving Real Madrid a good run for their money for majority of the game.

As always the anthem blasting with Celtic supporters roaring was a great wall of noise but one of the really powerful moments came at the full-time whistle.

Every Celtic supporter has been installed with a new found belief since Postecoglou arrived at the club and showed their support for the team and manager at the end of the game.

The journey under the former Socceroos manager is still in it’s early stages but everyone going along to that game on Tuesday dared to dream of a result against Europe’s elite.

There is a focus of one game at a time for the Celtic team with the opposition not making a difference. The fundamental principle is to win every match.

O’Riley has warned that there will now be no European hangover heading into the weekend’s fixture and has pledged that his Hoops side will approach Livingston the same way they did Real Madrid.

“No, there won’t be,” said Matt O’Riley speaking to the Scottish Sun when asked about a negative reaction from the Celtic camp.

“We’re not down in the changing room. We’re frustrated because it felt we could have got a lot more from it.

“And our process will still be the same.

“We’ll reflect on it, we’ll watch the clips back and see what we could have done better.

“There’s definitely a lot of things we could’ve done better.

“But I also feel there were a lot of things we did well.

“And on Saturday we’ll just be our usual selves.”

Celtic’s form in the league has been first class so far this campaign with them looking to add even more points on the board.
