YOUSSOUF MULUMBU is not long in the door at Celtic Park but the player is exuding a confidence in Celtic’s press conference this afternoon that may or may not be helpful.
The former PSG and Killie player was put up for media duties after his performance in Austria. Mulumbu is one of the few players to come out the game with pass marks after an abysmal second half.
Speaking today, the player made a bold statement that perhaps he should be saying in the dressing room rather than in front of the press.
When asked if there was a chance Celtic will lose the title his response was clear.
Youssouf Mulumbu at the press conference today:
'No way we don't win title this year – would have to be some very bad luck'— 90MC (@90MinuteCynic) October 5, 2018
Of course, even after a stuttering start to the league campaign, you wouldn’t bet against Celtic winning the title but statements like this tend to be counterproductive. They heap pressure on the players while giving your rivals ammunition.
Seeing as it was Mulumbu’s first proper Celtic pre-match media conference, we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Like what I’ve seen of him so far. I would forfeit all other competitions but make sure we win the league. Life isn’t like that but I can see why he was being so assertive. ???????
