SCOTT BROWN has earned the right to say what he likes at Celtic but I don’t think he will have endeared himself to some of the ground staff and his paymasters for his comments on the Celtic Park pitch.

Brown noted how well Celtic played on Thursday night and attributed it to the fact the Mestalla playing surface being a ‘proper football pitch’.

The surface did look immaculate and by the sounds of it Brown enjoyed the experience of playing on high calibre pitch.

“We played really well, played proper football on a proper football pitch, and until the sending off we were the better team, creating chances, and we just didn’t get the ball in the back of the net.” Brown told STV.

“The first performance back at Celtic Park wasn’t good enough but then again you look at the difference of the pitches.

“Their pitch was incredible and we knocked the ball about really well. Celtic Park is not so good just now.

“Hopefully our pitch gets better and we go on a good run in the league now. We spent a lot of money on the park and it is not up to the standard that we want it to be.”

As the Celtic captain said, the Celtic pitch cost the club a lot of money and was billed as a ‘hybrid’ surface. However, this season it doesn’t look like it’s up to scratch. Some won’t thank him for highlighting this again.

Brendan Rodgers mentioned there was a bug in the surface that the ground staff were dealing with.

Saying that Celtic’s home form is the whole reason the team is eight points clear and the bhoys seem to be doing well on it despite the problems.
